Sgt. Ronald James Tweats
Royal Air Force
My Dad Ronald Tweats was shot in the head on the way back home after a bombing mission. The Wellington bomber was attacked and was damaged enough so that most of the men bailed out. He was injured and so he and the pilot went down with the plane. It crash landed and both he and the pilot were safe. My Dad was then in hospital. On the next mission his entire crew and plane went missing. I am here today because he was shot in the head. We had my Dad's helmet but he gave it to my cousin who did not value it. He traded it for something many years ago. If anyone knows of an RAF helmet from WW2 with a bullet hole in the temple, please let me know I am looking to have it back in our family. This means a great deal to me.
