Pte. William Robert Edward Plane
British Army Royal Norfolk Regiment
from:Norwich, Norfolk
William Robert Edward Plane was my dad. He was born & bred in Norwich, Norfolk. I knew he was in a prisoner of war camp, Stalag IX-C in Germany & he was made to work down a salt mine.
I also knew the camp was next door to a concentration camp & dad felt so sorry for them, even though he was having a hard time himself.
He told me how he was captured & how lucky he was to be alive as so many of them were never taken prisoner.
Unfortuantly, I was younger then & didn't take as much notice of his stories as I should have & wish I had now that he has gone.
Dad died in 1999 & since then I have been researching our family tree.
