George Thomas Nugent enlisted in January 1940 and headed overseas later that year and was prepared in England for combat. He got his chance at combat on August 19, 1942 at Dieppe. He was wounded but was lucky to return to England. He returned to Canada to instruct and was later back to action in Europe, he was wounded again and did not return to action. George was discharged Sept 29,1945 in Winnipeg and later moved to Virden where his family was raised.
