Born in 1913, James Balston was the son of Francis William Balston, a paper manufacturer in Maidstone and Ellen C. Balston (nee Trousdell).
He returned from the West Coast of Africa aged 17 in 1930 and he married Penelope (nee Dalrymple) in Hampshire during 1939.
He is remembered on the Runnymeade Memorial and also Boxley War Memorial (nr Maidstone) I am researching Boxley War Memorial (nr Maidstone) others probably know a lot more about him, but I hope this helps you in some way.
