Edgar Young was was a direct descendant of Fletcher Christian of Mutiny on the Bounty. During World War II he served in Greece, with the 2nd NZ Expeditionary Force where he lost an arm and was stabbed through the heart. He was evacuated to Crete and survived his war injuries.
