During a flight of an RAF Mitchell FW227 NO-P of 320 Squadron, a bomb exploded on board at 14:29 hrs (GMT)in mid-air over target Manderfeldt and crashed.

Crew members were:

  • Lt. J.H. Muntinga - KIA - grave at Amersfoort-Rusthof
  • F/O G.F. Mertens (from Belgium) - KIA
  • Cpl.P.H. Peetoom - KIA - grave at Amersfoort-Rusthof
  • Cpl. P.J.E. Van Dam - KIA - grave at Amersfoort-Rusthof
