George Worthington Buttriss died aged 26 onboard The Yorkshire Belle, a boom tender which struck a mine and sank in the Humber with the loss of four crew. George was born in Jarrow, the son of George Henry and Alice Mary Buttriss (nee Somerfield) of Jarrow.
He is buried in Grimsby (Scartho Road) Cemetery.
