Joseph Flanagan who died aged 22 was born in Jarrow in 1921, the son of Thomas and Sarah Flanagan (nee O'Brien) of Jarrow.
His older brother Thomas was also one of the fallen
Josesph is buried in Enfidaville War Cemetery and is commemorated on the WW2 Roll of Honour Plaque in the entrance of Jarrow Town Hall.
