Thomas Mullen was born in Jarrow 1923, the son of Thomas and Norah Mullen (nee Gibbons) of 172 High Street, Jarrow.
He died, age 19, on the 23rd January 1943, when his ship SS Lackenby was torpedoed by U-624. All ships company were lost.
He is remembered on the Tower Hill Memorial
and on the WW2 Roll of Honour Plaque in the entrance of Jarrow Town Hall.
