Robert Satchfield was the son of Isabella Dudgeon (late Satchfield) and stepson of Robert Dudgeon of Jarrow. He served with the Merchant Navy as a mess room boy on SS Magdalena. He died in September 1940 aged 17. Robert is remembered on the Tower Hill Memorial and is also commemorated on the WW2 Roll of Honour Plaque in the entrance of Jarrow Town Hall.
