Sydney Skelton was born in Willington Quay about 1916. He was the son of Ernest W and Mary A Skelton (nee Henderson) of Jarrow. He died aged 26 and is remembered on the Alamein Memorial. He is commemorated on the WW2 Roll of Honour Plaque in the entrance of Jarrow Town Hall.
