Joseph was the son of William and Margaret Traynor and the husband of Margaret Traynor of Jarrow. He died aged 55 and is remembered on the Tower Hill Memorial. He is commemorated on the WW2 Roll of Honour Plaque in the entrance of Jarrow Town Hall.
