Alfred John Whittingstall served with 233 Field Company, Royal Engineers and died, age 47, on the 13th November 1942.
He also served during WW1 as Sapper, Acting Lance Corporal, 470125 Royal Engineers.
Alfred was the son of Alfred John and Margaret Ann Whittingstall of Jarrow.
He was the husband of Henrietta Whittingstall of Primrose, Jarrow.
He is commemorated on the WW2 Roll of Honour Plaque in the entrance of Jarrow Town Hall and ris buried in Tel El Kebir War Memorial Cemetery in 8 Egypt.
