Ernest Dorlin was in either the 8th or 9th Battalion Royal Fusiliers and was captured at either Salerno or Garigliano. He survived the train wreck on the 28th of January 1944 at the Orvieto North railway bridge at Allerona, Italy with multiple small wounds and was sent to Stalag 344 Lamsdorf.
