I read with interest Judy's story in Iceland and the tale of the trawler Skallagrímur. My Grandfather David Houston was on the RMS Andania when torpedoed by the German submarine UA. My family tell me that he got back on the sinking Andania in search of a missing engineer and was awarded the British Empire Medal for his effort. I know they were all rescued by the brave crew of the Icelandic trawler Skallagrímur.
