Stoker. Alfred Osborne Charlton
Royal Navy HMS Nigeria
My late father-in-law, Alfred Osborne Charlton, (born 1913) served as a Stoker on board HMS Nigeria on the Malta and Archangel convoys.
He spent time with the ship in America (presumably in the aftermath of the Italian torpedo) and at Trincomalee and in Burma. He died in South Shields, in 1989 aged 76.
