L/Cpl. Edward James Stubberfield
British Army 1st Btn. Kings Royal Rifle Corps
from:6 Ormside Street, London
My dad, Edward James Stubberfield, was in 1st Battalion Kings Royal Rifle Corps from 1941-1946. We only had bits and pieces of his war as we understand they do not speak of their experiences. He did disobey orders by staying back to remove a casualty and in doing so lost his platoon, which resulted in his mother getting a telegram missing in action. He found his way by linking up with another platoon, for this he lost his stripes. After his death we found in his wallet a photo of his best mate, he had carried it all those years, his words “my mate caught it in the head beside me”
We thought it would be nice if anyone recognises this photo, we have no name but just for his family to know he was not forgotten by my dad.
