Sgt. Stanley Longstaff was a volunteer for the Royal Air Force during World War 2.
He was in the 254 Squadron.
On 24th June 1940 he was with Sgt. Hugh G. Hughes and Sgt. James F Borrows.
They were part of an operation named Stavanger. The reports are unclear however the three men and the aircraft were reported missing.
The plane was shot down west of Stavanger.
The men nor the plane has ever been recovered.
However the three men are not forgotten and are commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial.
