Sgt. William Thomas Emery
British Army 1st Btn. Royal Fusiliers
from:Ilford, Essex
(d.11th May 1944)
Great Uncle William Emery was killed at the Battle of Monte Cassino on the 11th of May 1944. He was a Royal Fusilier and was shot at the river. I have over 200 of his letters to his wife which I am trying to put into a book to be published. I would like to know anything from anyone who may have known him, or whose relatives may have fought with him. Anything about the Battle for Cassino would also be appreciated, can anyone help?
William Emery was the son of William Charles and Ellen Eliza Emery, and husband of Marjorie Ada Emery, of Ilford, Essex. He died aged 28, and is buried in Cassino War Cemetery, Cassino, Frosinone, Italy.
