Sgt. Francis Cresswell
British Army att. 136 Field Regt RA. Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers
from:Wokingham, Berks
My father, Francis Cresswell served with the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers and was attached to 136 West Lancs Field Regt Royal Artillery and told a story of taking a convoy of trucks across India in 1943 when Rangoon was in Japanese hands. He was subsequently involved in the Arakan and cut off being relieved by (I think) parachutists. I can find no reference to the epic drive across India.
