P/O. Walter Prockiw
Royal Canadian Air Force 426 Sqd.
My Dad, Walter Prockiw was among the lucky ones to survive. He and his crew did their full tour of sorties.
Due to a very good navigator they were asked to do another tour but this time with a pathfinder, to a man they felt this would be pushing their luck. The crew according to my Dad were returned to Canada, being sent to Vancouver,B.C. to await assignment to the Pacific operations.
VJ happened before his flight crew was called up. He returned to civilian life shortly after, only to reenlist with the RCAF in the late 40's and until the 60's when "unification" of the Canadian Armed forces happened he went back to civilian life, retiring in the early 80's
Now in his ninetees he lives in Stettler, Alberta
