Sgt. William Kay

Royal Air Force

from:23 Vermont Street, Bolton

My father, William Kay, was a pilot flying Lancasters. He was in a sortie to bomb the railway yard at Lyon and was shot down. One member of his crew is buried near there. William was picked up by the Germans and sent to Fresnes Prison and then on to Buchenwald from where he escaped as the Russians were advancing. I would appreciate any further information. He rejoined the RAF in 1950.
