Pte. Herbert Walmsley
British Army 23rd Light Field Ambulance Royal Army Medical Corps

My father Herbert Walmsley served in UK at Wolverley Camp in Kidderminster before service in Europe.
He was posted to D Coy no 2 depot on the 13th of June 1940
then to 222 Field Ambulance Coy 3rd of September. He was appointed Acting Lance Corporal on the 20th of April 1942, but reverts to the rank of private on the 11th of May.
He was transferred to 23 Light Field Ambulance on the 27th of December 1943
and promoted to Lance Corporal on the 12th of March 1944, then appointed acting corporal on the 1st of December. On the 28th of February 1945 he was posted to 181 Air Landing Field Ambulance, 21 Army group and was appointed paid Lance Corporal. Serving with the Allied Land Force in Norway from the 10th of May to the 6th of September 1945. He transferred to 19 Coy RAMC on the 16th of October 1945 and was transferred to the Army reserve on the 8th of December. He died in 1948.
