Clinton Hetherington was my father's cousin's husband. He was killed by a Luftwaffe nightfighter on the night of 23rd/24th March 1944 over Germany. He was the navigator of a Lancaster II Bomber DS741 `OW' 7. All the crew were killed. They were: J9657 F/L H.H. Bow, pilot; R89734 Sgt. A.M.J. Bell, bomb aimer; NZ404314 F/S J.A. Mullally, wireless operator/air gunner; 1677587 Sgt D. Gilmore, flight engineer; C193 P/O J.D.Brown, gunner and 579241 F/S A.D. Frith, gunner.
Clinton has no known grave and is commemorated on the Runymede Memorial.
