I was at Dunkeswell, Devon with FAW-7 Vpb 103-PATSU 7A ground crew from July 1944 to the end of the war. I returned home on the Queen Mary. My duty in England was good. I had aunts and uncles in Newcastle and my dad was from Gateshead. He was in the British Merchant fleet. I managed a five-day pass to go to Newcastle and had it cancelled twice due to Buzz Bomb activity, but I finally made it. Meeting my relatives for the first time was great (my mother's brothers and sisters). I spent liberty between Exeter and Sidmouth, and have pictures of some shipmates on the tank traps on Sidmouth beach, some of the group at Dunkeswell and also some of the planes.
