227186 Leonard Dowsett Merchant Navy SS Almanzora My father, Leonard Dowsett, was a seaman during the Second World War. He served on the SS Almanzora, a troopship out of Belfast, and the RMS Ormonde out of Glasgow. My mother told me that dad had lots of stories to tell. One ship he was late for was sunk, but I think it couldn't have been far out because his friend got caught up in the rigging and survived.
