Polish Army 12 Podolski Lancers 2nd Polish Corps
I was deported to Siberia from Poland in 1941 with my parents at the age of 15. When we obtained `amnesty' and were evacuated to Persia (Iran) I joined the Polish Army in the Middle East, 2nd Polish Corps, and we went to Italy. I was in the Italian Campaign and fought at Monte Cassino (the first patrol that went to the monastery was from my regiment - 12 Podolski Lancers) - and on the Adriatic Coast (Ancona etc).
