Sgt. Alfred Stewart

Royal Canadian Army South Saskatchewan Rgt.

I have been trying to find information on my grandfather who was a Sgt. with the South Sask. Reg. His name was Alfred Stewart and he may have been known as "Stu".

Update

With a few friends/local historians I have been doing research for some years now on the heavy fighting in the area of the Antwerp-Turnhout Canal in Flanders in September/October 1944. One of the Canadian regiments involved in that region was your grandfather's SSR. They suffered a lot of casualties on the 24th of September 1944 during a failed attempt to establish a bridghead near Lochtenberg (a hamlet of the town of Brecht). Was your grandfather present with the regiment at that time? (Francis Hujbrechts)
