Ronald A.W Beaumont was the pilot in command of Lancaster Mk.1, (NN 696) DX - H which took off in the first slot, at 2300 hrs. on the 21st of June 1944, from East Kirkby on the Wesseling Oil Refinery raid.
The aircraft was attacked and shot down by a German JU-88 Night Fighter flown by Uffz. Johann Werthner of 7./NJ2, crashing west of Geilenkirchen with the loss of all 7 crew members.
