Lt. Colwyn George Holshausen DFC
Royal Air Force 31 Sqdn.
from:South Africa
Colwyn George Holshausen joined up in 1943 and did his ground training in South Africa for a pilot. He then went to Abu Seir for air training. He also trained as a gunner at Port Alfred Airbase, South Africa. He served in 31 and 205 Squadrons.
He received a DFC - the citation is dated 30th August 1944, and is signed General B Montgomery, according to the citation that I have. I also have his medals including the DFC.
However, we are having great difficulty finding records of his enlistment. He will be turning 90 this year. The event of bravery happened on 13th August 1944. His DOB is 16th April 1926, King Williams Town. I have a photo of him in uniform during the war. He has some memorabilia but he still is in possession of them.
