230810 Stoker Thomas Macken Royal Navy HMS Splendid from:Norwich (d.2nd May 1943) Thomas Macken went down with his submarine, his body was never recovered. He was 23 years old. His brother John Joseph died in 1942, also aged 23, in Burma. His body was never recovered. Both men were the only children of John Macken who lost a leg fighting in Flanders in WW1.
