230908 Pte. Samuel Clifford Daniels British Army 147th (Bridge) Coy. Royal Army Service Corps from:Norwich, Norfolk My grandfather, Samuel Daniels, served in the RASC and was called up quite late in his life. I have some pictures hanging on my wall of him in uniform when he passed out and what looks to be somewhere in Germany with his mates. I have a brass disc presented to him from XXX Corps Alamein - Cuxhaven 1944/1945. He drove the lorries that transported the best bridge in the world - the Bailey Bridge. He never talked about his time in the Army and I was a little too young to ask before he passed away. I'm sure he would have been proud to see me pass out as a Royal Engineer, Sapper a few years later and in my training I actually learned to build Bailey Bridge myself.
