Albert Edward Steele, known as Ted enlisted in the 3rd Battalion, the Grenadier Guards on the 7th of August 1943 at Derby. He was 17 years and 11 months. Ted was sent to Caterham Barracks in Surrey for his training and whilst in the South, he met his future wife.
His first deployment was on the 3rd of November 1944 in Italy and he remained there until the 2nd of August 1945. By that time his regiment had reached Austria.
After the war ended, his battalion was dispatched to Palestine from the 11th of October 1945 to the 28th of July 1947. He duly returned to the UK and lived a full and happy life.
