231883 Pte. James Matthew Bannister British Army 1/6th Btn. Royal West Surrey (Queens) Regiment from:Colne, Lancashire (d.21st Oct 1944) James Bannister was from Colne. He was my uncle and was killed in action during WW2. Lots of varying stories as to where he served and how he eventually passed away. Nothing really adding up. Would like to know more about him and where he served. I do recall seeing a Burma Star in a medal collection and my gran told me he served in Dunkirk. Any help would be gratefully received.
