On the 29th of May 1943,
Stirling MkI EF397 WP-K of 90 Squadron
took off at 2310 from Ridgewell. On return it crashed at 0430 2 miles north of RAF Stradishall airfield, Suffolk (5 miles NE of Haverhill). the crew were:

Sgt W C Beck
Sgt G A F Johnston
Sgt J O Bradshaw
Sgt Bradshaw survived with injuries.
Both New Zealanders and Sgt Johnston who came from Dublin in the Irish Republic are buried in Haverhill Cemetery. The others that died were taken to their home towns.
