235055 Stkr/2 George Alexander Austin Royal Navy HMS Phoebe from:South Acton, London (d.24th October 1942) Stoker Austin was the son of Mr and Mrs Alfred George Austin; husband of Lilian Maud Austin, of South Acton, London. He was 30 years old when the Phoebe was torpedoed by the German submarine U-161 off the Congo Estuary, while on passage to French Equatorial Africa. He was buried in the Pointe Noire European Cemetery in the Congo.
