John Kelly British Army 8th Btn Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders John Kelly joined the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders in 1937 and served with the 9th Battalion from 1937 to 1939 then with the London Scottish until 1942, when he transferred to the 8th Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders and served in North Africa and Italy. He was awarded the 1939/45 Star, Africa Star, Italy Star, Defence Medal, War Medal, Coronation Medal, TA Efficiency Medal (with 2 clasps) and was promoted to Corporal in 1958, being discharged on the 15th of January 1962.
