WO2 John William Pople

Royal Air Force

from:Fulham, London, UK

John Pople was my father and served as RAF aircrew. He was a POW from 13th May 1943 after his Halifax was shot down by German Fighter Ace Heinz-Wolfgang Schnaufer over the Ruhr.

When he was liberated John was on the march and covered 300 miles when he met the US forces near Louvain which, by coincidence, was where he first parachuted to safety.
