Flight Engineer John Emerson was the Son of Egerton Arthur Emerson and of Constance Emerson (nee Faiers), of Drogheda, Co. Louth, Irish Republic. He had also been a Lieutenant with the 26th (Dublin) Co. Boys' Brigade.
He was 24 when he died and is buried in the Anholt Cemetery in Denmark in a Collective Grave.
