235925 Cpl. Owen Richard John Bulkeley British Army 2nd Btn. Princess Louises Kensington Regiment from:Holyhead My grandfather, Dick Bulkeley, joined the 2nd Kensington Regiment at the outbreak of WW2, being part of the occupying force in Iceland in 1940. On his return to the UK he was based at Kington Camp in Kington, Herefordshire where he met Mary Cook and married her. On D-Day + 6 he was a machine gunner as part of the invasion force in Europe fighting through Northern France, Belgium and finally on "the island" in Holland. He was discharged in 1946 for a perforated ulcer and returned to Hereford were he lived for the remainder of his life. He never spoke of the war but he often mentioned the evil of the German Army at that time.
