William Lesslie was the Son of Brigadier-General William Breck Lesslie, C.B., C.M.G., formerly Royal Engineers and Edith Lucy Lesslie (nee Blyth). Also served as a Captain in The Royal Scots.
He was 39 when he died and is buried where he fell in action and the grave is marked by a private memorial in Gambela, Ethiopia
