My dad, Douglas Tumber, joined the Royal Navy when he was only 15 years old, in February 1916. He served on HMS Dragon, HMS Ceasar, HMS Canada, HMS Columbine, HMS Frobisher, HMS Escort, HMS Phoebe, HMS Westcliffe, HMS Venemous and HMS Pembroke. His service to the Royal Navy lasted 29 years, leaving on 27th September 1945 and reached rank of Chief Petty Officer.
