Pte. Eric Raymond Croucher

British Army Royal Artillery

from:Swanscombe, Kent

My father, Eric Croucher, joined the Royal Artillery in 1937 and following training was sent to Singapore. I have a photo which was taken pre-war and he is really well dressed wearing a ring and I think he must have had a good life there.

He was taken prisoner upon the fall of Singapore and eventually repatriated after working on the railway. He suffered from ill health and black moods for the rest of his life and, sadly, died in 1981.
