Reginald Robert "Taffy" Newman

British Army Military Police

from:Wales

My father, Reginald Newman, was on the traffic control section of the military police and a sergeant. He rode a motorbike up the French beaches on D day plus one. His task, with a section of men, was to keep the roads open for the Allied Forces to Germany. He died naturally at the age of 80. After the war he had great difficulty in settling down as he missed his team that he described as 'the lads'.
