Aircraftman 2nd Class Wilfred Wright was the son of James and Esther Wright from Portadown, Co. Armagh, N. Ireland and born on 6th February 1920.
He died on 4th January 1940 at Warmwell in England aged 19 and is buried in his home town at Drumcree Church of Ireland Churchyard.
He is commemorated on Portadown War Memorial, Thomas Street Methodist Church War Memorial and on the Memorial of 1st Portadown BB Old Boys Association in their Clubrooms.
Wilfred was employed in a local weaving factory prior to the Second World War where his father was a foreman tenter.
Wilfred had three years service in the Royal Air Force prior to his death and was posted to Squadron 103. This Squadron, which had been reformed in 1936 at Andover was equipped with Hawker Hind Aircraft and later re-equipped with Fairy Battles.
He died following a sudden illness.
