F/Lt. Douglas Claude Seymour MID.
Royal Air Force 38 Squadron
from:Market Harborough
My father Dougie Seymour was a rear gunner on Wellington Bombers during WW11 flying a total of 45 operations, 20 of which were whilst on detachment to Malta with 38 Squadron. Other operations included two attacking the Scharnhorst & Gniesenau when they were under repair in Brest harbour and also as an instructor with 15 OTU during two of the 1000 bomber raids on Cologne and Essen. Dad died in 2012 aged 91. I have subsequently tried to obtain the Bomber Command clasp in recognition of his service to the command but his service in the Middle East and Malta does not qualify him for the clasp.
