Leonard Wild was on his first mission as a navigator in a Lancaster Bomber when he was lost, presumed dead, on 20th October 1943. Some of his comrades were found. One, called Snook, was found washed up on a beach in Holland. Leonard was declared dead by the High Court of Justice on 24th August 1951. His family were devastated because he was never found.
