Mjr. Frederick Gordon Smith MID.
British Army Royal Signals
We lived in Catterick Army Camp in Yorkshire. Waltzing their tanks down the road. An auster landed in the field opposite where Italian prisoners of war played football. Winter 1943 we were snowed up in a hotel on the moors and my father Major Frederick Smith who was adjutant of the Royal Signals got two tanks to go out and rescue him!!
