241187 Pte. Donald Macpherson British Army 1st Btn. Dorsetshire Regiment from:Carisbrooke, Isle of Wight (d.19th April 1942) My mum, Donald's sister, told me this story. Donald Macpherson was heading home after 5 years posting when his troopship was diverted. My nan, Donald's mother and mum were sitting at home when they heard a voice shout "Mum". My Nan ran upstairs crying saying "It's Don something has happened". It was the evening of 19th April 1942. A week later they were informed that Don was killed with his best mate during an air raid on Malta. He was 27 Years old.
