After many months of training in Australia he sailed to Canada for more training and then on to England where he joined an aircrew at RAF Skellingthorpe in Lincoln. Dad was a wireless operator and survived his missions and returned to Australia in October 1945. In June 1945 he married an English girl who had spent 3 years working in a munitions factory.
